It has been a smoky day. Isn't it rather contradicting that it is against the law to burn money, yet people are allowed to burn money which are of another currency? And isn't it even more contradicting that smoking is banned in enclosed areas and bus stops but people are allowed to burn paper on grass patches next to a bus stop or in an urn directly under a block of flats? And I mean literally under the block of flats and not on the ground next to the block of flats. The smoking ban was put into place because it is a demerit good and harms not only the smoker, but also the people around. Burning paper, on the other hand (well, not exactly the other hand), produces much more smoke, harms people, harms the environment and decorates the whole vicinity with floating black butterflies. Of course there is more to it. Perhaps there should be more regulations governing the burning of paper. I'm not against it since is a customary practice, but I strongly feel that it is rather intolerable that there are such inconsiderate people around, burning incense paper on grass patches when there are designated areas to burn such stuff, or pulling those metal urns to under the block of flats where there is shelter from the sun and rain, and a ceiling to trap all of the smoke produced under the block, and then walking away without ensuring that the flames have extinguish or that children playing around that area are kept away from the potentially dangerous hot urn with burning incense paper in it. These people should be slapped with fines or at least educated to wake them up and stop such inconsiderate and dangerous practises. If these people were more considerate, I don't think anybody would be against the burning of incense paper, less the environmentalists.
Day offs are becoming more and more unappealing, other than the fact that I do not need to wake up early in the morning and work for a whole day with not even a delicious lunch to look forward to. Idling is really a torture unless one is sleeping with the sky still dark, the rain falling gently and the wind blowing gently. Otherwise, it would be much better to have something enjoyable to do so that one is kept busy, ensuring that both the brain and the body does not rot.
Some weird people have been calling me on my handphone lately. Just yesterday, there was this person looking for some "ah xiang", a few days ago, there was another person who called while I was still sleeping and asked for my e mail address. Up till now, I have not received any e mail and I am still wonder how that person got my handphone number and where on earth that caller was from. Then there was also someone looking for another person a few days ago, and a stranger calling from +44 (wherever that is) waking me up at 4 am in the morning but of course I did not bother to answer and be responsible for an expensive handphone bill.
I am feeling lazy. I shall save the rest I have to say for some other time.
