I am very tired. I want a break. When will it rain again? I can no longer stand the smell of the haze. It is affecting me adversely. I think I am falling sick.
I wish I can choose not to go for the service learning thingy this coming Wednesday.
I'm sorry but I HATE China scholars.
Happy Chinese New Year to all. I know that it is a little late for that already, but it's only the fifth day of the Lunar New Year. Somehow, I felt the New Year mood being stronger on the night I performed at Jurong than on New Year's day itself but I am still grateful for the 2-day break.
After the New Year celebrations in school, I rushed back to Anglican High only to see an almost empty school. So few of my friends went back that I ended up leaving school quite soon after I arrived.
I ran into Ting Ting, Torrance and Cally at Tampines mall and joined them for lunch at Pizza Hut. The food was quite nice, but it was really expensive. All the money I had saved in the past few days was spent on lunch. After that, I walked quite aimlessly around Tampines for a while before going home.
There wasn't much left to do at home. I only had to vacuum and mop the living and dining rooms. After that, I went with my father to bring one of my relatives to my grandmother's house for dinner.
I can't believe that I could still eat so much despite eating such a heavy lunch. Dinner was really delicious so I couldn't help but eat and eat. After getting home, I washed my father's car again. It wasn't as hard because I only had to wipe it since I just washed it a few days ago.
New Year's day was the same routine as the previous years. The only difference was that I got to ride in my uncle's new car. My father got lost again while going to one of my relatives' house even though before that he was studying the map of the area. I only had a glance and I managed to correct my uncle and direct him to the correct place. Maybe my father needs me to guide him around since I can hardly get lost.
My family went to the Singapore River Hong Bao that night but there was nothing much to see there. After less than an hour, we went back home. Maybe it was already a long day for my sister since she was making a lot of noise while we were there.
On the second day, we did nothing much, other than some visiting at my relatives' house. I had the cross country run on Friday and I came in 353th position. It really shocked me because I have never got such a big position before. For the 2.4 km run in secondary school, the total number of boys running was only around 150. So my number makes me twice as bad as the last runner.
I went back to Anglican High after the run. Hardy Mertens came to work with the band. I was quite surprised that he was very impressed with the band. The band sounded quite good on the whole, but still not clear.
On Saturday, some of the sec 4s and I went to visit Mr and Mrs Chua. Before that, some of us had lunch at Burger King at Eastpoint and one of the employees really got onto my nerve. I am not going to visit that place again unless I really have to. It was the worst experience I have ever had in a fast food restaurant. Anyway, Mr Chua's house is really very nice. Although we did not really do much there, other than watch "kung fu" (if I'm not wrong) and some of them playing cards and mahjong and the keyboard, it was really fun there.
I am very bothered by all the homework I have. I spent one and a half hours last night doing only 2 mathematics questions and 2 chemistry questions, and before blogging, I spent 2 hours working on 4 chemistry questions and trying to understand 2 mathematics question that I still cannot understand and a Chinese close passage which I can barely read half the words and not understand anything at all. I wonder how I am supposed to finish all the remaining work by tomorrow.
I'll stop here.
I had my first piano lesson for at least 2 months yesterday. Well, it wasn't the best experience. When I played for my teacher, I did not know why I was so nervous. I couldn't play any thing properly. To add on to that, I suddenly realised that I have not been playing the piano at all. I was hitting the piano instead of playing the piano. Maybe now I can understand why when some people cannot play properly or rather, cannot play their best when I listen to them. Maybe I should learn how to overcome this.
Wednesday I had band practice. We played mainly the same pieces again, but it was still not very properly done. There can't seem to any silence in the band room. I wonder why everybody has so much to say. Friday's band practice was a little better, not because we could sight read The Phantom of The Opera, but the sound was slightly better. Saturday's sectional wasn't very much productive to me. During the combine with the winds, there was a lot of other things that could have been corrected. I won't say more.
On thursday there was an inter batch basketball match. I wasn't able to stay till the end of the match but I really enjoyed myself. It didn't do much good for me though, to play basketball. My legs were still aching from Monday's PE lesson which involved doing a lot of half squats in a minute. The conditioning PE lessons are torturous.
There was a workshop at Mus Art on Thursday evening. I was almost late for it and I had to take a cab to the community centre from Chinese Garden MRT station. The short journey cost me $5.50. I could have easily taken a bus from there, but I was running late. The cabby wasn't very good either, choosing to take a slower route there. I was not very familiar with that area so I did not dare to ask him to use another route, in case I was wrong but there was a faster way there. I have used it once. When I reached the community centre, I had to gobble down a double cheeseburger. I think I did it in record time. I finished the whole burger while walking up 3 storeys to the rehearsal studio. Luckily I wasn't late yet. I really regret not refilling my bottle before leaving school because I did not have anything to drink at all. I couldn't help it but drink the tap water from the toilet. Anyway the water from taps in Singapore is very clean. I did not get any stomachache the next day for your information. Anyway, we worked on Iris during the workshop. On Friday, the whole band worked on Iris. The trumpets did not really sound good. Mr Hardy Mertens said that the bass clarinets were louder than the tubas. How can I ever learn to listen and play accordingly? I really feel bad. Later, we went through Impressions of Japan and the third movement of Rebirth. I really like Impressions of Japan. Rebirth is also very nice. I like the part where we have to sing.
I ran out of mood to continue updating.
