I didn't realise that it has been two weeks since I last did an update. Time really flies. I was rather busy the last two weeks because of a chemistry lecture test and my piano examination. I'm glad it's all over now. Hopefully I would be able to pass my piano practical exam this time round. Just to make sure that I would be able to pass, for the whole of last week, I averaged at least an hour on my piano everyday. That means that I spent close to no time doing my homework because most of my remaining time not on the piano was spent on my computer. Anyway, I'm having quite some problems with my homework already. Catching up is the main issue now. The only tutorial I can follow is mathematics, but I have not done the last 5 tutorials that Mr Wong has gone through in class and the last 2 assignments he wanted us to hand in. I feel very bad now because he is the only teacher who makes special effort to stay back after school just to help me catch up with the lectures that I had missed. All of my other tutors do not even seem to bother. Now I'm almost totally lost in all the other subjects, especially economics and chemistry.
Quite a lot of things happened recently. I find myself spending all my money on food. I can't quite believe that I actually would do this. Last Friday, I went to Parkway's Swensens for lunch, and after band practice and dinner at the hawker centre, went back there for dessert. In total, I spent around $25 on food that day. Then on Wednesday, I ate at a new food outlet (qi ji) at century square and spent around $10. Yesterday, because lao shi was leaving us already, we had dinner with him at Parkway's Crystal Jade Kitchen. I shall not reveal the price of the meal but thankfully there will be dinner provided after band practice tomorrow. At least I can attempt to start saving some money.
As a result of my ultra short term memory, I have been making a lot of mistakes. Just on Thursday alone, I went to play badminton without remembering to bring a change of clothes, forgot that it does not pay to be helpful, and left my keys in the keyhole. Looking back at it now, I think it paid quite a lot to be kind, just that sometimes, it is a different person who returns the kindness. I was at Tampines interchange on my way home on Thursday. As I was boarding 65, there was this man wearing a blue shirt talking to the bus driver. I was thinking why he couldn't wait till everyone has boarded the bus before asking the driver for the route because he was blocking half the passage way. Just as I walked past him, unexpectedly, he said to me, "Excuse me, do you have 10 cents?"I was already quite annoyed with him slowing down the boarding process but I dug into my wallet and shoved him a 10 cent coin. He didn't even made an effort to thank me. I know that it's only 10 cents, compared to the amount of money that I had spent on food but couldn't he at least show some form of gratitude? The worst thing was that he got off the bus 2 stops from the interchange. That was well within walking distance from the interchange. If he knew that he did not have enough money, why can't he just walk that short distance? Anyway, I was too tired to think much at that point of time. When I reached home, I was looking for something to eat when the doorbell rang. I peered through the viewfinder (is that what you call the hole in the door?) and saw a stranger. I didn't want to go through all the talking process because I was already tired enough after the badminton game so I just stayed there and continued looking, in silence. He was very persistent. He rang the bell at least 10 times, with an interval of around 10 seconds. At some point of time, I almost wanted to open the door and see what it was that he wanted but I did not in the end. He took a piece of paper and slotted it on the door. In the process of that, I saw something oscillating. To my greatest horror, it was my house keys! I was momentarily stunned. Images of the stranger outside removing my key or opening the lock and coming into my house ran through my mind. I hoped that he would not notice the dangling keys on the lock. Thankfully, after some time, he finally left. I was so relieved. I grabbed my keys and made sure that there was nothing else that I had left outside.
I shall do another update on the WMC trip a bit later.
